🪜 Help Those Who Help Themselves 🪜

I love helping. It’s in my nature. But here’s the hard truth—help without effort on the other end is wasted energy.

I’ve learned that if the person asking carries entitlement, ungratefulness, or no willingness to move… your help doesn’t move them either.

That old saying—teach a man to fish instead of giving him the fish—still holds power. But let’s be real: some people don’t even want the fishing pole.

A friend once told me: ā€œOnly help the people who want the help, not the ones you want to help.ā€

That one cut deep. Because sometimes it’s the people closest to us who ask the most… but do the least. That’s where discernment has to grow.

I’m still learning. Still sharpening. But I know this: my help is reserved for those ready to climb out of the hole—not those who want me to jump in with them.
