Make History, Don’t Just Record It

Tonight’s gem from The 38 Letters from J.D. Rockefeller to His Son hit home: am I using my mind to make history, or is my mind just recording history made by others?

Early on, I worried about not having an MBA. What I did have was a fresh, non-institutional view that let me be creative. That creativity let me test, fail, adjust, and build. Now I’m pursuing higher education, but I’m glad I started with real reps that taught me what no classroom could.

To my wives and mothers building legacy: your power is not in memorizing answers. It’s in creating them. In finding the deal structure that fits. In crafting partnerships that work. In turning ideas into assets.

Thought to spark your week:

Where in your life are you recording someone else’s playbook instead of writing your own—and what bold move will you make in the next 72 hours to change that?
