Stillness and Obedience

Legacy is built on the choices you make each day.
Since today is Sunday, my kids are on fall break, tomorrow is a holiday, and everything was relatively calm, I decided to take a bath. This isn’t something I do often. Normally, I’m in and out of the shower with a purpose — not taking too long.
After sitting there for over two hours, I realized how much my body needed to just sit, relax, and be still mentally and physically. And no, my water didn’t get cold — I like my temperature on crab boil. 🤌 ♨️
After nonstop studying, attending events, and writing three books since last year through now, I barely took time to be still. Today gave me that space. It also allowed me to reflect on the message at church:
Are we being obedient, or do we expect our guidance to come with an itinerary and pleasantries?
Sitting there, I thought about what areas in my life I’m open to trusting God in, and what areas I’m still shielding. I pray the choices I make daily are building a legacy that my great-grandchildren benefit from — in values, in stewardship, and yes, in the way we allocate time, energy, and capital toward the future we’re building.
Your turn: What are you still shielding, and do your daily choices align with the legacy you say you’re building?
Upcoming: My independently authored book Unbound: Redefining Your Potential, Purpose, and Possibility is on the way. And our REWIRE co-author project, The Silent Struggle, officially launches this month.
