When the Storm Comes… Will You Be Ready?

There’s something about storms — the way they announce themselves, unapologetic and unyielding.
I’ve lived in many places.
And with each new land came new lessons in understanding the storms that call it home.
In Florida, we braced for hurricanes.
Massive, swirling giants that give you days to prepare — yet can still wipe out entire coastlines in a matter of hours.
In St. Louis, we watched the skies for tornadoes and flooding.
Sirens wailing in the distance, skies turning that eerie shade of green, warning you that something unstoppable is on its way.
In Chicagoland, it was the frozen tundra.
Where the cold wasn’t just weather; it was a presence. Ice-coated streets, wind that bit through layers, and snow that blanketed everything in sight.
In Hawaii, we learned of monsoon seasons.
Rain that falls with purpose — unyielding, unrelenting — flooding valleys and carving paths through mountains.
In California, the ground itself would shake.
Earthquakes that arrived without warning, leaving chaos in their wake. Wildfires that consumed acres with the breath of a single gust.
And here in Texas?
We’ve met hail that ranges from the size of salt grains to softballs.
Tornadoes that carve their own path — indifferent to what stands in their way.
Each place had its own temperament. Its own storms. Its own way of reminding you that nature is not to be underestimated.
But what I’ve learned through it all is this:
Preparedness is power.
Knowing what could happen — understanding the nature of the storm — gives you the chance to brace for it.
Not just in weather… but in life.
Because storms are inevitable.
But survival? That’s intentional.
I want to hear from you:
What storms are you weathering right now?
How do you prepare when you know one is coming?
And tell me… who among you still loves to dance in the rain despite it all?
Let’s remind each other that storms may come… but we were built to withstand them.
